Myrtle Beach Real Estate: What You Need to Know Before You Move

Whether it is relocation or retirement, your Myrtle Beach Real Estate Agent can help you make this new chapter go smoothly. Below is a list of considerations I made when moving to Coastal South Carolina and I hope it helps you…

  1. Research. So much information is available to you online, so start your research there. Some of the considerations for research is the following…

2. Home location! Myrtle Beach is a seasonal resort area, do you want to be near the beach and commercial entertainment or would you like to have a more secluded place to call home? Communicate your ideas to your real estate agent and he/she can help you narrow down your home search areas. I have a Myrtle Beach home search tool to assist you.

3. Medical Facilities! Myrtle Beach is home to some great medical facilities, but if you have specific health needs, research your specialist prior to your move. Some residents need to get to Charleston, SC or Wilmington, NC for highly specialized medical treatments.

3. Schools! If you have school aged children, you will want to research the best schools and the specialized high school programs available to you. Also, if you prefer private school, you’ll want to map and research those as well. I have a great schools research tool on my web site to assist you with your search.

4. Work! Will you be moving for a job or will you be picking up a job once you get here? Reduce your commute time and increase your quality of life by conducting a home search close to your job.

2. Discover. Schedule your discovery visit to Myrtle Beach to get a feel for the area. If you wish to view homes and communities during your visit, arrange these viewings with your REALTOR in advance, also have a talk with your lender pre-qualification. There’s nothing like seeing and exploring to get a feel for making an informed decision.

3. Plan your move. Line up your to do list for your moving details, select a home to purchase and plan your move to Myrtle Beach! Prioritize closing out your current home details to keep from being overwhelmed, many of your Myrtle Beach home details can be done once you get here.
