Are you thinking of living the golf cart lifestyle? Surfside Beach, South Carolina is a great place to enjoy your golf cart year around in the community. In an effort to keep everyone safe, there are some rules to abide by:
- Daylight hours only. In the summer that mean golf carts have to be off the road by 8pm and in Winter with daylight savings, they have to be off the road by 5pm.
- Must be a licensed drive 16 years old or older
- Cart must have seat belts and they must be worn
- The cart must have directional blinkers and headlights
- The golf cart can be driven within a 4 mile radius of your garage.
- The golf cart can be driven over major highways, but not down major highways. They must remain in 35mph zones or lower.
- Must register your golf cart. See the town web site for more information!
- The driver must have proof of insurance, drivers license and registration in the cart.
- A fully legal golf cart can be driven on the beach from November 1 to Feb 28. This is not as easy as it sounds, don’t get stuck in the sand.
