Discover the Charm of Murrells Inlet: Beaches, Dining & More

The beautiful low country of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina is home to an Ocean Inlet. It also features the Intracoastal Waterway. This makes it a beautiful destination and a place that many call home.

Murrells Inlet as a destination for tourism features a favorite called the Marshwalk. The Marshwalk lines the landline of the actual inlet and features the area’s favorite seafood restaurants. Known as the seafood capital of the world, Marshwalk also features nightly entertainment. It hosts celebratory fireworks. You can also enjoy various festivals and oyster roasts, all while overlooking the beautiful inlet.

What is there to do in Murrells Inlet? This gorgeous area offers an oceanfront. Public beaches are accessible by way of the Garden City Causeway and Huntington Beach State Park. Many know that Murrells Inlet straddles 2 counties, Horry County to the north and Georgetown County to the south. Many fishing charters leave out of the inlet at Wicked Sister Marina. There is even a public boat ramp just south of the marina.

Golfing the area is another big draw for Murrells Inlet. If you’re into golf, check out Wachesaw East and TPC Myrtle Beach at Prince Creek. Indigo Creek Golf Club and Blackmoor offer both private and public golf options.

The golf cart lifestyle in Murrells Inlet is not as organized as other areas of the strand. You can have golf carts to reach the beach within a 4 mile radius of home. However, you can’t take them on major roads. Paths for golf carts are few and far between. If you’d like to have one for getting around your neighborhood or to the pool, they are permitted.

Shopping in Murrells Inlet consists of a variety of mom and pop shops, like antique, consignment, furniture, art and golf. The big box stores are coming to the inlet. They are utilizing the former Inlet Square Mall site. This area is being torn down to make way for larger stores. We do have a Home Depot in the inlet and a Walmart close by in Garden City. The inlet has a hospital at the Waccamaw Hospital run by Tidelands Healthcare.

Murrells Inlet straddles 2 counties. It is hard to say what school assignments are if you have school-aged children.
